World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims 2026

Aftermath Support is honoured to continue this local act of remembrance for people affected by road death, serious injury and road trauma.

World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is an important opportunity to pause, reflect and remember those whose lives have been lost or changed forever on our roads. It is also a time to recognise the lasting impact on families, friends, witnesses, emergency services, professionals and wider communities.

For many years, Liverpool’s remembrance activity was arranged by the RoadPeace Northwest group, alongside partners and people with lived experience. Following the closure of RoadPeace in January 2026, we knew how important this day remained to families and others affected by road trauma. We wanted to make sure that a Liverpool remembrance service continued.

Aftermath Support is now taking responsibility for ensuring Liverpool’s World Day of Remembrance service continues each year, working in partnership with Merseyside Police, Merseyside Road Safety Partnership and others who share our commitment to remembering and supporting people affected by road trauma.

We are also grateful to some of our legal panel partners for supporting this year’s World Day of Remembrance event and helping us continue this important local act of remembrance.

The service will provide a gentle space for remembrance, reflection and connection. People are welcome to attend whether they have been bereaved, seriously injured, affected as a witness, supported someone after a collision, or are attending in a professional or community capacity.

Karen Blair, CEO of Aftermath Support

“World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims matters because road death and serious injury do not just affect one moment in time. The impact can be lifelong, and families and others affected deserve space to remember, reflect and feel less alone.

After RoadPeace sadly closed, we felt strongly that this local act of remembrance must continue. Aftermath Support is committed to ensuring Liverpool’s service remains in place each year, and we thank Merseyside Police, Merseyside Road Safety Partnership and our wider partners for their support in helping us do that.”
