Karen Blair - Chief Executive Officer

Karen joined Aftermath Support in 2021 bringing with her over 20 years of experience in leading, developing, and delivering services in the third sector, primarily in the field of advocacy, throughout the Northwest of England.

While her experience has predominantly been within the Health and Social Care arena, she is passionate about ensuring people have access to the support they need to help them access and navigate public services and processes, have their rights upheld and their voices heard to have choice and control over their lives and the tools they need to overcome challenging or life changing situations.

Karen is also a Trustee for Wirral Mencap and volunteers as an Independent Person for CYPD complaints. She uses any spare time to relax and unwind and spend time with family.

Nicci Coote - Counsellor Registered MBACP & RTC Support Team Leader

Nicci joined Aftermath Support in 2022, bringing many years’ experience of working closely with people and families affected by serious injury, bereavement and life-changing circumstances.

Before joining Aftermath, Nicci qualified as a solicitor in 2000 and spent much of her legal career supporting people involved in complex personal injury, clinical negligence, fatal incident and catastrophic injury cases. This included high-value claims, a large multi-party action and work with clients with physical and/or mental disabilities.

Since joining Aftermath, Nicci has continued to build on this experience, developing her role from victim care and support into counselling and team leadership. She is a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Nicci combines her legal background, counselling skills and compassionate approach to provide informed, supportive care to people affected by road trauma, while also offering guidance and support to our frontline team.

Outside of work, Nicci enjoys spending time with her family, dogs and friends.

Vanessa Holt - RTC Victim Care & Support Officer

Vanessa joined Aftermath Support in 2026 bringing with her more than 20 years of experience supporting children, families and adults experiencing mental health challenges, trauma, and difficult life circumstances.

Her career has included roles in education, residential care, family support, and community mental health services where she worked closely with individuals and families during periods of distress, transition, and recovery. Vanessa has also worked as a peer support worker and more recently established her own counselling practice providing therapeutic support to children, young people, and adults.

Vanessa holds qualifications in integrative counselling, clinical hypnotherapy, and peer support work. She is committed to providing compassionate, trauma-informed support and helping people feel heard, understood and supported during challenging times.

Outside of work Vanessa enjoys spending time with her family, shopping with her three children and walking her two golden retrievers.

Jane Bolderson – RTC Victim Care & Support Officer

Jane joined Aftermath Support in 2025, bringing over 23 years’ nursing experience in secondary care, community, and primary care. Her career has been built on communication, empathy, and advocacy, supporting people through health, emotional and psychological challenges.

Alongside her professional work, Jane has supported other charitable organisations. She helped in the development of the Serenity Garden for Military Veterans and their families in Eastham and previously volunteered as an NSPCC Childline counsellor, providing over 500 hours of support to children and young people.

In her own time Jane enjoys spending time with family and friends, proud mum to 3 sons, long walks with her 2 dogs and weekly Pilates sessions.

Chantelle Owen – Digital Media Coordinator

Originally from Australia and holding a Bachelor of Arts in Communications, Chantelle began her career in the legal sector, working with respected firms such as Hill Dickinson LLP and DWF. After being made redundant during the Covid pandemic, she pivoted into freelancing, using the opportunity to upskill in digital marketing and social media. What started as a necessity quickly became a passion, and she has since built a successful business helping brands of all sizes craft their online presence.

She understands what it takes to showcase an organisation in the digital space and recognises the importance of a strong, engaging online identity in today’s world. Her work spans both corporate and charitable sectors, including volunteering as a Social Media and Marketing Coordinator for a leading Liverpool charity.

While she remains connected to the legal and mediation field, her focus is on helping businesses grow through compelling storytelling, strategic content, and digital visibility.

In her downtime, she enjoys travelling and spending time with family.
